Here we Go!!!

I had initially asked my roommate, Diana, to be my BUDDY because she has been my friend ever since I was an undergrad and now that she has a BIG life changing event coming up (she got accepted to the PH. D. program @ Depaul!!!) I want to make sure that any knowledge that I can share with her to reach her goal she gets. We are in the same boat! Unfortunately, due to schedules we were unable to meet and called upon my 2nd BUDDY, my sister –Nancy. Fear not because I will be meeting with Diana as my official BUDDY but the homework is due and Dr. R. don’t play! So, stay tuned for more BUDDY news. My sister also has a goal that she is trying to reach and that is finishing her degree here at UIC. She just got her acceptance letter yesterday. She is so excited! I think this will benefit us all because it will keep us honest and on track.

We started the meeting by

Reporting In:

Sharing what this meeting was supposed to entail and also talking about expectations.

Dream/Vision: Share my story to young girls to encourage positive change and also goal setting and achievement.

What did I do? What did I not do? To get me toward MY GOAL

DID-found a memoir

NOT DO-organize week with small steps

What problems did you encounter this week regarding your steps:

1. Volunteering at a local elementary school-Brandon told me that the best thing to do is to walk into a school and see how I could volunteer. I am not sure how I would be able to volunteer since I work M-F from 8-5pm but this sounds like such a great thing. I want to volunteer somewhere where I will enjoy it and not get disappointed after a couple of dates.

2. Finding time to focus on my dream/vision. My life right now is crazy but I know that .

3. Wanting to focus more on cultivating my dream/vision. I want to experience a bit of my dream now-just get a taste!

I needed hard times.

What do you plan on doing for the week:

Wednesday- Sharing my steps with another classmate

Thursday-setting up a meeting to meet with one young girl (Rebbecca) about experience

Friday- Interviewing Bernada

Saturday-finish reading Do You!

Sunday –email elementary schools about my interest to volunteer, meet with Rebbecca

Monday-sign up to get more information about the opportunities at the boys and girls club

Tuesday- Honest look at budget.

It felt a bit odd at first but after a while it felt okay. I think having a BUDDY will help to keep me more motivated but also keep me accountable. Itoo think I need to be accountable for my actions.
