One year and one month ago today, history was made. But the type of history that should inspire, motivate and call us to action. We elected Barack Obama the 44th president of the United States. I recently saw the documentary of that campaign trail from the common people's perspective. If you get a chance, make sure you check it out. It is on HBO but here is a teaser:
(Spoiler alert!!-I along with other friends were under the impression that you get to see the president react to the news of his election but that is not true because the movie cuts off just at that point)
I get asked why Barack Obama(some sense a fascination)??
To me- President Obama means that YOU can achieve. Not only because he did but also because he had/has a great team of passionate, intelligent, capable people surrounding him. Some paid but most volunteers. If you stay the course you will get there. He is not an island and it is that part of the story that makes it more accessible to so many.
Here are some of his nuggets of knowledge:
- Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
- We need to internalize this idea of excellence. Not many folks spend a lot of time trying to be excellent.
